Rejected Europe. Beloved Europe. Cleavage Europe?
REJECTED EUROPE. BELOVED EUROPE. CLEAVAGE EUROPE?
May 18-19, 2017
Robert Schuman Centre, EUI
This conference takes up the question of how contestation over Europe has affected voters, party competition, party systems. Which theory or theories are most helpful in explaining the changing voter and party landscape in Europe? Are we seeing fundamental change in the bases of partisanship? How can one explain country variation? Does it make sense to conceive what is happening as de-alignment, realignment, or the creation of a new political cleavage? This conference brings together leading experts on political parties, public opinion, and European integration to explore and debate these questions.
